About

This was made for the Ludum Dare 47 Game Jam. This is an online Game Jam that people around the world enter. This was created in a team of two people and was created over 72 hours. The theme was ‘Stuck in a loop’.

For this Game Jam it took us a little while to figure out what to do, in the end we ended up with two different game ideas and decided to each make one and then merge them together to create the result. For my game idea I created a puzzle platformer where you are a cube that respawns on a loop after a certain amount of time. You can also trigger a respawn manually with two different forms of respawn, one where a weighted cube is left where you were and one where a fixed cube is left were you were. These can then be used to get past the obstacles. The weighted cubes can be used for pressure plates and the fixed cubes can be used to create platforms you can use to reach places. This was then merged into the other game as security challenge that must be completed to unlock other parts of the spaceship of my teammates game idea.

As it was a Unity game it was exported for Windows, Linux, Mac and WebGL. The games all get reviewed by people on the internet over a 30-day period. After the 30-day period was up all the comments were positive. The game came 1015th place overall out of 2406 games, however in the individual categories we came 555th place for the theme. Considering that we couldn’t decide on what to make for at first and there was only two of us, I was fairly happy with the results.
